Help
« Dato: Juli 15, 2006, 12:53:21 pm »
Hello all.
Sorry for My non existant Danish!
I have only been in Copenhagen for 2 weeks and havent started Danish classes yet.

I've moved here from London and brought my SV650 with me and I'm looking for things to do apart from drinking and smoking. So I have a few questions, Where can I watch bike racing? Where can I go bike racing, do you have "track days"?
Do you have bike meeting places or hang outs?
Where are your good roads for day trips etc?
And finally, why do so many people ride SV's and V twins, they seem to be more popular here than anywhere else I've been.

Tak if you can help

Richard

Hey and welcome  :D

first why we drive the v-twins, speciel suzuki SV 650 and 1000,are they very low price in DK. suzuki have 50 % of the  sales in
dk. because of the low .. and the SV bikes are very cheap for the size..... and  after all this...they are alot of fun...

The racing part..  street race , somtimes in weekends at late night times.. illegal of course at somthing called STRIBEN  , where i dont know right now, i have not  been there for a long time, and it is moving every night...

race and trackdaqys are in jylland and Sweden, in sweden most trakdays on race way Ring Knustorp, arranged by

 http://team-trackday.dk/

http://www.racing4fun.dk/

In Copenhagen we meet each other at...
1) langelinie every day.
2. the SV`s every tuesday about 18 00 a clock on MaC Donalds in Buddinge/Søborg hovedgade
next weekend the biggest bike meeting in DK. at Skagen on the top of Jylland with about 6-7000 bikes and 15000 people. it start  thursday 20/7 and go full throttle to sunday... and it is easy to find.. just go to the top of jylland and you can`t miss it..

for  all the fun roads.. i think the SV`s and langelinie bikers will show you  or else take a map or a GPS and find . Slagslunde. Hove, Ganløse, Anisse... for a start, and you will find the way.

Hi Richard
Welcome to Denmark, and welcome to the SVRider forum. :)

The "bike racing" part of your questions is probably somewhat of a problem. We don't have an awful lot of racing here in DK, unfortunately. However, the MC600 Challenge Cup might be of interest to you. They have a website http://www.mc600.dk but it's entirely in Danish. You can find the race calendar here, with dates of the races and which tracks they're racing on. There are still four races left of this season, but they all take place in Jutland, on Padborg Park, Ring Djursland and Jyllandsringen.
We do have track days, but even though they're arranged by Danes, they're still usually held on race courses abroad, very often in Sweden. These are some of the people arranging track days: Racing4Fun, Team-Trackday and Din Ven Bike.

A good place to hang out would be Langelinie. All kinds of people on all kinds of bikes come there, usually in the evenings and weekends. Another place is in Buddinge every Tuesday. Quite a few of us from SVRider.dk usually go there.

There are a lot of good roads when you get away from Copenhagen. The area around Ganløse - Slagslunde - Smørum, just west of Herlev, is among our favourites. Nice winding roads, with fairly good blacktop. I have only lived in the Copenhagen area for a year, so I don't know that much of the countryside yet.

I don't know why so many people here like the V twins so much. The SV is, and has been since it was introduced, a very popular bike. Maybe because it's fairly cheap compared to many of it's competitors. And is also very fun to ride, which you probably know yourself. :)

I hope some of the above will be helpful. If you have further questions, just ask. :)

Thank you all for the information.
I will have to print it off there is so much to take in and names I have never heard of, but you have opened a big door for me!
I understand why your vehicle prices are so high but I do not look forward to having to pay for my motorcycle again, when I import it. I am not making fun, but I paid £4000 = 40,000 K for my 650 s K3 new!, but we have way too many cars in the UK.
I'm a bit of a motorbike tourer, and I hope to go to Norway again soon, their roads were amazing, even though it rains all the time. This May I went to the South of Morroco, I can highly recomend it, The roads are empty and in surprisingly good condition, if you get the chance go.

Cheers
Richard
